Structure and Content of the Degree Program

The Digital Business degree course is a specialized sub-area of business informatics and focuses on digital transformation. The course combines highly topical subjects from the fields of business informatics and economics. Important fundamentals are taught in the first semesters before more interdisciplinary courses are offered in the later semesters.

In the Enterprise Architecture module, for example, you will learn how enterprise architectures are developed. Big Data Analytics is about how to process large amounts of data and derive decisions. Cloud Computing deals with the development of large software applications that are operated in the cloud and the Business Models module addresses the question of how digitalization affects companies.

The practical orientation of the degree course is particularly evident in the practical phase in the 5th semester and the continuous implementation of project-oriented courses across all semesters. “Learning by doing” is the motto here. Practical study: The practical projects

Get off to a practice-oriented start: The practice-oriented approach of the Bachelor's program enables you to work directly on specific solutions for companies in a problem-oriented way - right from the start. This allows you to apply your theoretical knowledge directly and make important contacts with companies.

Even before the internship in the 5th semester, students work on a company-specific problem from our industrial partners as part of the practical projects. Working in small teams, students independently analyze and develop practical recommendations for action and present the solution concept to the project client in a final presentation at the end of the semester. Students organize their projects independently and acquire relevant methods and know-how for a later career start. The project process is intensively accompanied and supported by regular coaching meetings with professors from the degree program. This ensures that both your technical and methodological skills are promoted.

The following list of highlight practical projects from recent semesters shows the wide range of practical projects and the project partners we work with.

Specializations in the Degree Program - become an Expert!

In addition to your choice of topics in the practical projects, you can pursue your personal interests in three elective modules in the seventh semester, get to know previously unknown topics from the field of digital business or expand your knowledge with content from related disciplines. This allows you to adapt your studies to your personal and professional goals and set individual priorities. Possible elective modules include IT security, web application development, online marketing or business consulting.
